Re: Boost Bottles
Likewise for reed intakes there was a time we used equations to calulate reed dimensions but by the late 80s it was discovered fitting the largerst reed with the most petals you can physically stuff in there provides greater gains Do you have anything to support this claim? I can see big reed block...

Re: Big transfer ports vs big bore???
Ok so i was wondering in the case of a big bore cylinder, the transfer ports are always compromise by the fact the bore/sleave has increased..how detrimental is this.. everything else being equal is any benifit of a bigger bore cancelled out by the decrease in transfer volume...should the transfer ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E35g6AXw3bY I don't mean to scratch an old scab but the above is an interesting article. The speaker is a bit hard to take at times when he goes off on a tangent  but he knows what he's talking about with engineering and physics and is very precise with his use...

Re: RZ250 won't pull under load.
had worked on 2 variations of this on RZ's recently, first 1 cylinder really lean and one really rich conclusion was a air leak between the cylinders but never found, and another that wouldn't rev over 6000, that turned out to be electrical. Sooooo given your rich maybe an air corrector blocked or i...

Re: Reed block sizes
Reed cage design is like most things 2 stroke counter intuitive , you would think a larger cage would make more top end but smaller cages seem to do the job. Given that a CR 125 is the same cage as a RS 125/250 and they are in use up until the A kit level (cage is smaller) but make 10hp more size is...

Re: TZ 750 'Crossplane' - 90`- Crankshaft.
Frits Overmars said they hotted up a TZ750 and it was a lot slower due to it wanting to wheelstand at the drop of a hat. Suspension is better today but no escaping the rocking couple even with 90deg phasing, It does mitigate the damaging secondary harmonic though.

Re: TZ 750 'Crossplane' - 90`- Crankshaft.
What will it gain? If we look into history the first close firing order NSR500 allowed mere mortal riders to keep up with aliens, then when Mick Doohan switch back to the 90 deg "screamer" format firing he thought it allowed someone to roll the throttle off and modulate the slide better af...

Re: Flow management through reeds
Mind you Stihl can engineer emissions across their entire range the little less powerful saws make up for the 'performance' saws. The secondary intake acts just like an air bleedJames W. wrote:Flow management?

Re: Flow management through reeds
Jeepers, 15 or 20 cycles to get mixture up the transfers? Really? No. You can build a fresh engine without a drop of fuel in it, bolt on the carb, kick it twice and it's running. The cylinder has enough mixture in it to fire and run after 3 or 4 revolutions. Must be time for some maths revision , m...
