Re: Can You Appeal A Stat Write Off?

That's how they feed the spare parts business......

And it's a lottery between the different states too. Call me paranoid? Check out the difference between stat write offs in Vic vs. Qld. Vic hardly a scratch, Qld need train to have run over your bike........

Re: An interesting happened on the way to work

So I finally got around to sticking in the new CDI. Wow what a difference - started second kick after 3 months of no use and ran very crisp and clean. No sign of the issues that came up in November. I'll take that as case closed for the time being. Although it would be good if the CDI maker could wo...

Re: 10% gst charges on overseas purchases

To be really boring - with eBay as it's an Australian based market place they are selling in in Australia, hence GST applies. If you buy from an overseas seller on their website that is domiciled overseas it is not an Australian purchase and GST doesn't apply. Save yourself the 10%.....

Re: An interesting happened on the way to work

Problem with pulse coils is that generally you're only testing continuity not function. Only way is to replace them from experience (I have been regaling people on my facebook site Brisbane Classic Motorcycle Collection with the ignition issue I have been having with a CBR1000F. Coils, leads, CDI, a...

Is that the item also known as the pulse coil?

An interesting happened on the way to work

Well not really - I was riding my RD250LC to work when it started to cut out, particularly under load. Still got me to work and home with some light touch on the throttle. Checked the fuel, OK; checked the plugs, OK - put new plugs in to be sure - still there. I had previously replaced the ignition ...

Re: RZ250/350 Fuel Tank

I had a long discussion with my bike painter and repairer about tanks because over the last 5 years with the increase in interest in old bikes, stocks of good tanks have dried up meaning previously thrown away tanks are now being considered repairable (at a cost of course). Example: I am rebuilding ...

Pays to look at the photos

When I bought my RG250 Walter Wolf I didn't study the photos close enough to realise that the mirrors were odd. One was correct original mirror and the other some other arrangement. All good that is what eBay is for right? Well after several months of looking finally found one - turns out they are s...

Re: Never Give Up!

In the winter months as I become more of an old soft appendage the bikes get used less and less which of course translates into more temperamental fettling moments when one gets dragged from the bowels of the garage. Yes when fettling around becomes f*cking around to now useful outcome it is time to...

Never Give Up!

I spent a lovely Sunday in the garage this weekend. One of the bikes that was due for some TLC was the RZ500. Gearbox oil change (what a clever arrangement that is) and a quick run around the block to blow out the cobwebs (literally as the little bastards seem to get in everywhere). Kicking away lik...

Re: Motobatt batteries

I have used Motobatt batteries in most of my bikes and generally have no issue with them. I have had one of two that seemed to have crapped out quicker than they should but in general no issues. I've got a fair few bikes so they don't get used often (maybe once every 2-3 weeks) but I do have comfort...

I have Returned

Sorry was watching a show on the Korean war last night and had Dougie Mac in all his fine ignorance front and centre, hence the quote. I used to be a lurker on these fine pages but a couple of career distractions took me away but now it is time to return to the land of the large blue cloud! What's n...

Re: What to use for cleaning radiators...?

I bought a product from Bunnings some time ago that was a scale remover for metal surfaces including kettles and stuff. Can't remember the name but if does a kettle element if would be OK for your radiator. It was in a white bottle.......
