Prising LC clock rims off

LC 250/350 project is now on the road with its new South Australian rego, but the speedo is making a horrible noise. These units are sort of sealed in manufacture, but people do get them open to fix or freshen them up. Any particular tips from anyone who’s done yhis? Or just “prise the edge up gentl...

Exhaust wrap, I’m sure that started just to sidestep re-chroming costs

Re: RZ250 carbies

From memory the float bowls should be practically identical.
Could you have “bitsa” carbs?

Re: RZ250 carbies

Shut me up if its a granny sucking eggs comment but have you tried all the various cleaning chemicals? Carb cleaner is nicely aggressive with old petrol goo. One of the things I find oddly satisfying these days is cleaning revolting old parts to find the original finish is often intact underneath th...

Re: RZ250 carbies

Question is what is the actual damage?
I’ve cleaned revolting looking carbs and found it surprising how niice they can come up.
Change the jets and/or needles out?
Get a kit of gaskets and o-rings etc?

Re: New member

Yes, leave the profit motive with people who lije the buying and selling process, respect your “nice old bike thats a bit different” attitude. Before you spend too much on parts be sure you can’t make what you’ve got work. I go back to work thursday but have a few days off next week, are you a 9-5 w...

I figured 95 might be the practical choice.

Re: New member

Sounds like you’re a thoughtful bloke rather than an “angle grinder first” kinda person! If it’s quite far gone then yes, probably work out a restonod rather than restoration! The instrumentation for a 1983/84 model is very hard to get in good nick, was only around for 2 years 40 years ago after all...

Re: New member

Pretty much everything Jon just said. The RZ is s lousy base for a cafe racer the lines are all wrong for that, though it already is one in its own way. What even is a “cafe racer” any more? A Cafe Racer was a Triton, Triumph, Norton etc with 50’s or 60’s modifications. When the 70’s came around tha...

Re: Australian petrol in two strokes

Noticed running Stihl garden tools they run a lot better on 95 than 91, seem to rev cleaner and idle better. Not drawing too many comparisons with our bikes, wouldn’t dream of it😁

Re: Parts interchangeability - DT175 in this case but a general topic

Trouble seems to be they’re a great lightweight, but owners grind them into dust then discard them 🙄
