Re: Prising LC clock rims off
Have to say I too was surprised by your choice of lubricant D but I guess some chain lubes solidify less than others? Like I said in my initial reply the WD40 Wet Lube with PTFE seemed to work well on my clocks, so hopefully you won’t have any issues. As a side note, it still took a while for my spe...

Re: Prising LC clock rims off
No need to open them up for this issue in my experience D, just place them face down on your workbench and squirt a small amount of lubricant into the cable drive hole. Don’t overdo it, or you could have the excess run onto the front face of the gauge. I personally use WD40 wet lube with PTFE and le...

Re: New member
Hey JPG, there is a guy called muttsnuts on the Aircooled RD and RDLC Crazy forums, who overhauls Yam carbs for reasonable money, so it might be worth contacting him. The general consensus amongst the cognoscenti is that most old 2 bangers run best on their stock carbs and induction systems, certain...

Re: RZ250 carbies
Not sure about the RZ250 carbs specifically but most Yam twins only have the choke feed in the bowl for the left carby, so I would expect the right bowl to be different.

Re: New member
Welcome JPG, in addition to what Jon and D have suggested, I would also say to set up an automated search on flea bay, so you can see when any RZ stuff gets listed. I have found this turns up stuff pretty regularly, although your wallet might not thank you! I also browse Gumtree pretty frequently an...

Re: Australian petrol in two strokes
I asked a similar question a couple of weeks back D, I have been running my bikes on 98 but am pondering whether to move to 95, so would be keen to hear others experiences

Re: Parts interchangeability - DT175 in this case but a general topic
The DT175 must have been one of the longest running models ever in Yamaha’s line up having been in production from 1973 all the way through to 2006, that is quite something. I love mine for its ability on and off road as much as it’s classic looks, although I am almost as fond of my KE175D, which is...

Re: Parts interchangeability - DT175 in this case but a general topic
Unfortunately these little tail irons often lead a hard life, so finding one that hasn’t been abused in some fashion can be difficult. I picked up a 1980 model last year for very reasonable money that was two previous owners with just 9,500 kms on the odometer. It is having new paint applied at the ...

Re: The Poor Thing........
That kind of thing really grips my shit. Poor little DT doesn’t deserve that sort of treatment and how do these clowns figure that their ‘handiwork’ adds any kind of value to a poor defenceless Japanese classic?

Re: Parts interchangeability - DT175 in this case but a general topic
Given how long that model was on sale D, surely there must be a ready supply of second hand parts out there? I am pretty sure that the basic engine design stayed the same from around 1984 through the final versions in the 2000’s, so a clutch basket from any of those years should work.

Re: A Nice RD400.........
Yeah, can’t see someone paying that kind of money for it tbh a) Because the lack of use probably means an engine out for crank seal replacement minimum, and b) If you use it meaningfully it could possibly devalue it My 400G probably owes me about $6k all up and I am therefore happy to use and abuse ...

Best fuel choice
Hey guys, I just thought I would seek some opinions on what grade of fuel is considered most suitable for our 30-40 year old strokers these days. I have been running mine on 98RON, as I read on a UK forum that was the best option but more recently I have read other opinions that 95RON is just as sui...

Re: Is there anybody out there?
This one will be my fourth 2 E’s, an F and a G, so you can probably guess I am a fan of them. In fact, I enjoy riding my 400’s more than my LC in truth, albeit the LC is better at many things, it’s just the aircooled character that gets under my skin. If you have any thoughts on transport, they woul...
