RZ Top Triple Clamp for Naked Bike

Ok. Converting my faired, clip on '85 RZ to more of a naked style, round headlight, street tracker barred bike. Probably be easiest to mount regular bars if I had the top triple from an originally naked bike, I reckon. Anybody got stuff they are looking to sell/get rid of to make this work for me? A...

Re: Kickstarting Drill

"massive right leg". Bwah!

All good stuff mate. I did put one of those leads on this new battery so I can make sure it's topped up if I don't ride for a while. Will try the prime thing too.

Cheers.

Re: Kickstarting Drill

Ok. I can't believe I fell for this after almost 40 years of driving/riding. It seems I got duped by a slowly failing battery. I finally twigged when my indicators stopped responding, etc.

New MotoBatt MB5.5U for 79 beans and I'm back in business!

Re: RZ 250 VS 350 Powervalves Question

OK. Thanks for all your comments gents. I'm not ungrateful, just busy with work lately so haven't had a chance to check back. On the big plus side I have been flogging the RZ lately (not a euphemism ) and enjoying it immensely, although I had a disloyal thought a couple of weeks ago about sett...

Re: RZ 250 VS 350 Powervalves Question

Man, this is turning out to be a headache. Thanks for your comment Jon, but it's a bit cryptic for a slow thinker like me. Are you saying the Yambits seals are not that good? I googled but didn't really come up with much. Also, the Yamaha parts are not right? Outer seals (castle seals?) are a "...

Re: RZ 250 VS 350 Powervalves Question

I can get this kit from Yambits:

http://yambits.co.uk/rz350n-powervalve- ... 13482.html

Or pay about 40 bucks more to get them from Yamaha Australia.

Are the Yambits parts ok?

Ah, good info gentlemen. Thanks.

I will see if I can get Yamaha seals locally before going the Yambits route.

Re: RZ 250 VS 350 Powervalves Question

Thanks Jon. Although I hate the answer. Having to remove the barrels seems like a hassle that could've been designed differently. Sigh. Oh well. More mechanical adventure than I was hoping for, but maybe I'll learn something. Hopefully I won't learn that I bit off too much! Will it be worth it to up...

RZ 250 VS 350 Powervalves Question

A question to you RZ gurus who know stuff! Are the actual valves the same? Are the seal kits the same? My bike is a 250 with 350 barrels. I didn't put it together so I don't know what PV is installed (assuming they can be different?). Leaking oil out the left side PV cover so I thought I'd pull the ...

Re: Kickstarting Drill

By bottom end jetting do you mean the lower part of the rev range? I do have a jetting issue that I haven't yet sorted because basically I have no idea what I"m doing in that regard. :? Bike is strong and smooth revving, but throttle response not the best below about 5 grand and or first half o...

Re: Power Valve Left Side Cover Question RZ 250/350

Thanks James. I think you have the answer. My limited understanding that comes from limited research suggests exactly what you say. There shouldn't be oil in there so something ain't right! Sigh. Looking at the manual it seems the whole powervalve assembly is rife with fiddly bits. I guess I'll have...

Kickstarting Drill

My RZ350 starts within 3 kicks when warm or if it's only been left a couple of days. But more than a few days and it takes a lot of frikkin' boot action to get her going. I'm wondering if there's something I could do different to make it easier, besides getting another bike or installing a starter m...
