Re: Boost bottle facts?
Didn't Kawasaki have two separate bottles on the KR1 or KR1S? I feel I've heard that but don't know Kawasakis. There is no intake interconnection at all on the KR-1/1S, although the KR250A (tandem twin, rotary & reed intake) did have a balance pipe similar to RD/RZ etc. If a boost bottle arrang...

Re: That leaky RZ petcock, fuel tap.
No problem Jools - hope you find a cost effective solution. You're right about excessive postage charges, although some sellers do offer postage at a more reasonable price. If your existing tap has M6 bolts at 34mm between centres, there are LOADS of taps which may fit. Buying secondhand is a good o...

Re: That leaky RZ petcock, fuel tap.
Jools; When you say it is "leaking", do you mean that it is allowing fuel to pass through with no vacuum applied, OR that fuel is actually dripping out of the body? I'm not sure whether this will be of any help, but my view is that vacuum-operated fuel taps are just unnecessary complicatio...

Re: The Good Use of a Wheelie Bin
Ag suppliers are probably a better bet for value through quantity, it is used as stock feed. I haven't sussed them out yet but I think you might be talking 10-20lt drums and $30-50 costs - both cost and quantity (then storage of the unused portion) requires a commitment from a small time used such ...

Re: TZR250 Restoration
...As in keep the bolts but plate over them? Meaning they are still 'original'? Wouldn't that increase the size of the bolt and make the threads unaligned? The fasteners are mostly zinc-plated as standard, so the replating process will (if done properly  ) strip the old plating and rust before...

Re: +1.5 250 RZ pistons & rings?
Jools; Only you can judge how "bad" the damage is. However...provided there are no cracks, I would run a smooth file over the scuffed area on the piston, then send it away for coating with Molybdenum Disulphide (I use HPC in Leongatha, but there may be other providers). The coating is norm...

Have you seen this mob? https://www.bestmufflers.com/bshop/index.php?cPath=767_829&osCsid=b6e7300279ebaad1dfb46cb94d8c100d You might be able to call them up to see if they can source smaller diameter. Thanks for that. The 44mm OD mild steel perforated tube looks to be just what I'm after. I onl...

Where to get perforated tube...?
Anyone got any suggestions for places in Australia to get perforated tube for making/repairing silencers? There are a few advertisers on Ebay, but their products are a bit pricey and it all seems to be stainless steel (mild steel will be fine for me). There are many sellers overseas (particularly UK...

Re: RZ350 reed block options ??
What do you boys recommend as an effective carbon removal methods on all these delicate aluminium parts? Got powervalves, exhaust outlets, pistons and so on to clean up on two motors now, don't fancy scratching anything while chipping and scraping carbon off. Saw there are a few combustion chamber ...

Re: RZ350 reed block options ??
Hmm... Are you sure James? I say that as ive helped a local lad modifiy his RZ 250 cyls to take yz80 Vforce reed blocks... and I can assure you that they would not fit a 350, theyre too small, the bolt holes would be wrong... the actual petals I cant comment on, but... either way I cant see why you...

Re: RZ350 reed block options ??
Some YZ80s used the same reed petals as the RZ350. As far as I remember, the reed blocks were generally the same too, except that the YZ80 block had a bigger flange area - this can easily be cut to match the RZ350 cylinders. My records tell me that reed blocks from the following Yamahas use the same...

Re: RD/LC AUSTRALIAN COMPLIANCE TAGS
Would that be Khneisser in Switzerland, Greg? They supplied me with a replacement compliance plate for one of my KR-1s - a good job at a reasonable price and it arrived fairly promptly.

Re: Cylinder bore replating in this part of the world...
I got my pair of KR-1 cylinders back - looks like a decent job. I sent one piston for reference purposes (the other piston is within 0.005mm) and asked for 0.05mm clearance. Measurements after replating show one cylinder spot on at 0.05mm, whereas the other comes in between 0.05mm and almost 0.07mm,...

Re: Cylinder bore replating in this part of the world...
I sent a parcel with a pair of cylinders and a piston to NZ Cylinders today. I telephoned beforehand to make sure of a few things before committing. The quoted price was a bit less than A$400 per cylinder (I forget the exact amount), but the company offers a discount for greater quantities of identi...
