Re: Newbie with an R5
nice r5 there porje. looks mostly original. I reccomenf you buy a service manual or maybe you can down load one. Also i'd get on ebay and find a complete gasket kit, if the bike was mine i'd remove a barrell and check the ring end gap, piston and bore condition also the deflection on the conecting r...

rear wheel for 1967 yamaha yr1 350
gday smokers. I'm chasing a replacement rear wheel for my 1967 yr1 350. I'm fairly shure the rear wheel on the yr2 and r3 are the same. Maybe the r5 aswell. Would like a good rust free wheel.

Re: RH crank seal
Gday Neil. Correct orientation for right hand crank seal is castellations to bearing (facing inward) you have it correct in the photo. From what i have read on many forums the yambits seal are not of great quality. I allways use genuine yamaha crank seals, they cost more but give piece of mind and s...

Re: Old Gold project bike sale...
Really awsome post james p. Good photo's and description. I like the way old gold operates and i pretty well like everything in there invontary. I rang them once and spoke to a bloke that gave me 5 minutes of good motorcycle straight talk. There's been good feedback on this forum and there video's o...

Re: yamaha yl3 125 racer build
""I think they are the same rods as the 250 including TD et al. The crank pin is in a different location on the crank to give a longer stoke."" (don't know how to do the quote thing) cut and paste. I thought the same. i was informed by a seller in the Uk who has a complete Rod/pi...

Re: suter 580cc 2 stroke isle of man 2016
From what i've read there talking close to 200hp and around 140kg. All in a modern frame, suspension and tech. Should be a rocket and with the right pilot a real competitor. Number 2 on my bucket list is to go to the isle of man, would be great to see a 2 stroke mixing it with the big boys there. (n...

Re: yamaha yl3 125 racer build
Thanks for the compliments on the paint jed and hybrid, could have been better but quite good for a first go. Yds5?? Well spotted there Ozzy. close but no cigar. The bike you spotted is a 1967 ym2 305. Identical cosmetically to the yds5e 250. The 305 has a longer stroke and bigger bore, also kick st...

Finnished painting everything that will be black. painted it jet black using 2k paint through a gravity fed gun. reasonable happy with ...

Re: RZ250 Clutch slipping
for what it's worth pkay. i use fzr1000 clutch friction plates in my rz350 with stock springs and yamlube 2t transmission oil. The fzr1000 plates are the same thickness but are around 2mm wider offering more surface area bite.. never had a problem and doesn't slip even after 10'000k's of abuse on a ...

Re: yamaha yl3 125 racer build
thanks ged. The cylinders where actually bored in melbourne. Link ported the cylinders and rebuilt the crank. He has a guy do his boring work. Apperently it was a bit of a pain being 43mm bore and only .25 over. I had one new .25 over piston that came with one of my engines, then i found another for...
