Re: big-bore stroker RZ engine - 421cc
yeah, thanks for the tip. Instead of buying in Melbourne, I am buying 45 minutes down the road in Geelong. The house prices go from $500,000 in western suburbs to 320,000 in Geelong plus you get more land, its right on the beach, and with a CBD that supports nearly 200,000 people so has everything y...

for roughly the same price, you can run a fully programmable unit.

2tinstitute is a registered 'dealer' (because he buys a shit load of them) and could probably get you a good deal on one

I think
'building a hackjob motorcycle which vaguely looks like a vintage road racer, but is built so poorly that it is only good for riding to the cafe and back'
PS: open face helmet and goggles seem to be mandatory also.

Re: KTMito 380
Worked out this afternoon what killed the top end, the powervalve never opened past 85% which took the exhaust duration down into the 180's.
Its all been reprogrammed to correct this now.
Looking forward to making some monster hp next time at the dyno

Re: KTMito 380
By the way, I just checked my bikes dyno curve against other bikes to see where we were up to.
Oddly, the bike in its currently state with overly rich jetting makes the very same hp/tq curve as a KTM LC4 640

Re: KTMito 380
cant quote top end power yet as jetting was way off. But it made just shy of 30 ftlbs at idle and 46hp/40 ftlbs @6000 perfectly linear from idle to 6000, no 'coming on the pipe' just need to sort out the last 2500 rpm, where it falls dead between 6000-8500. I think its mostly jetting as the EGT was ...

Re: Crafting a kr250a1 motor into a dirtbike frame ???
dunno what it could be, but pull off the clutch cover and see if you can rotate the shift selector drum to get it into neutral. if manually shifting gears via rotating the drums doesnt help you may need to open up the gear box. Does the KR have a cassette box or do you need to split the cases to get...

Re: Crafting a kr250a1 motor into a dirtbike frame ???
does it freely move? or does it still have a bit of 'engagement' feel (resitance)
if the former, the problem may be the shifter shaft slipping out of place due to a missing C-clip (common on bikes, not sure about KR)
If the later you may need to pull either the clutch cover, or split the cases

Re: Mad Keen Machinist
hasnt been any progress on that build in a long while, I suspect he F'ed up the swing arm design and then lost his 'drive' to finish the bike off?
