Re: '86 250 YPVS Restore
Managed to straighten the old needles which went back in. Have now collected the tank and bodywork from collideascope in Hornsby. Thought it was worth uploading a few pics in case anyone else is looking for some work done. I'm very happy with the results. The tank came back mint with a liner too. A ...

Re: '86 250 YPVS Restore
James, why go with the 5 and not the 4 any reason? The one on the right is bent from me dropping it. Only slight but on the lathe it's more obvious.

Re: '86 250 YPVS Restore
Old vs new. Not sure what effect this would have on flow from the tube. Is it the taper or length that matters? No smutty answers please, let's keep this rather British. Good show.

Re: '86 250 YPVS Restore
Checked quite a few sources and seems to be correct. Remember this is a 250. E tube=345 P-2. Main=155, Pilot=25, but the needle is the big question. I removed a 4N10 and replaced it with a bigger 5N12 which seemed wrong but came with the kit I ordered. I might try and straighten the old ones and put...

Re: '86 250 YPVS Restore
Thanks for the info Jon, I took the exhausts off and tried to de-coke them on the weekend. Tried the caustic soda and heat gun. Neighbours weren't impressed. Once they go back on I'll fire it up again and see if it made any difference. I didn't pressure test, didn't have the sealing kit and pump. I ...

Re: Rubber headlight cover for rectangular yamaha 250/350/500 ypvs model
LB, no, I wouldn't be doing them myself. There are some new techniques for rubber moulds since these came out in the 80s. I would need to get a 3d image first, which would need a good template which I haven't got.

Re: RZ fuel tank up for grabs 83-85?
Not sure how to tell if they are working. They came as a package of spares. Let me know if I can photograph anything for you, or do a simple test. Maybe PM me as this thread was about the tank which is now in the hands of a very happy customer.

Re: RZ fuel tank up for grabs 83-85?
Actually, it's not as good a I thought it was. Probably OK for spares. The front is damaged and the temp gauge. Let me know if it's worth anything.

Re: Rubber headlight cover for rectangular yamaha 250/350/500 ypvs model
Part number 51L-84196-01 All the usual sites have nil stock. I can find one in Germany for $150, but suspect it's because they haven't updated their stock. Stories around the global forums of owners buying up to 10 at a time to stockpile and sell to their mates. Google tells me a well known forum me...

Rubber headlight cover for rectangular yamaha 250/350/500 ypvs model
As the title says. I suspect it's local knowledge that these rubber headlight seals / covers are no longer available but thought I'd put it out there. Was hoping some entrepreneurial enthusiast might have found a way to make a mould. Any links or info grately appreciated. Sent from my iPad using Tap...
