Re: kr250a crank rephaseing

2 cranks spinning oposite directions cancels out secondary vibrations perfectly.

secondary vibrations are the type that you 'feel' the most when riding the bike.

if you go 90 degs, you then have harsh secondary vibes from 2 cylinders

Re: kr250a crank rephaseing

its all been done and tried before.

there is a reason all parallel twins are 'twngles' (0 deg firing)

Re: kr250a main clutch drive gear inner rubber toasted

have you checked to see whether you can buy a new clutch or a decent second hand one? or you will need to replace the inner rubber either by purchasing new OEM rubbers (doubt such a thing ever existed if its riveted together) or have new rubbers machined up. The other option ofcourse is to solid mou...

Re: KTMito 380

yeah, I got everything finished and had a full day at the dyno booked in. But the bloke who was going to lend me a roller starter pulled out so I had no way to start the bike. So the dyno day was cancelled. I will be popping it on the KTM werribee dyno in a few weeks instead, there dyno has a roller...

Re: Crafting a kr250a1 motor into a dirtbike frame ???

Its a road race engine so you have a super-tall 1st gear and then close ratios after that ;)

Sprockets will help a little, but the gearbox will never be properly suited to offroad

Re: KR-1R - "Ring him and tell him hes dreaming"

Not that R, its not showroom condition or original ;)

I think buying and restoring two S's would be better as they will appreciate in value more as they haven't increased in price yet!

Re: KTMito 380

Its been a busy couple of weeks. -I've been doing the many remaining odd jobs to try and get the bike ready for the dyno on the 23rd of Jan. -I've restored the jetting back to OEM which required a few needles and jets. I think now she is running a 170 main, 48 pilot, NOZH needle 2nd clip and a #7 sl...

Re: who makes custom pistons is aus for old smokers

you're better off doing a compression test to check the rings, pill the cylinder off and inspect the piston and bore.

If everything is OK (piston isnt worn/damaged), clean everything thoroughly, install new small end bearings and put it back together!

Re: Crafting a kr250a1 motor into a dirtbike frame ???

That sharp bend straight out of the exhaust port is not going to be great. I think I remember lozza mentioning that a nice straight section out of the exhaust port is ideal. I applaud you for having a go though.. I'm all about it. my thoughts too, even a MX bikes bend in the header kills a few hp s...
