Re: 2T DI/Jet Ignition Research Paper.

Thanks for those links great reading . Taking a already highly developed race engine from 870 to 950hp is a very significant achievement. Pity RMIT didn't only simulated the combustion and never built a test engine

Re: Engine Builder

I can rebuild a RGV/RS blindfolded and asleep. They are an easy engine to rebuild very straightforward. The only tricky thing is bleeding the cooling system.

Re: suter 580cc 2 stroke isle of man 2016

Okay brains trust, whats the theory there. Sounds similar to what Sutor were suffering. Is the cut off from injection too lean, too complete? Theory is simple, the ECU can't cope, you cannot write enough correction maps for what is going on at this point. There is not enough time to match the corre...

Re: Race fuels,methanol,e85. settings and blow ups

same same you don't even need the full E85 to get the cooling effect , E15 (mix your own still does the trick)

Re: suter 580cc 2 stroke isle of man 2016

Well, as predicted, taking an untried/tested machine to the IoM, was not going to be pretty. The Suter injection system didn't work too well in race conditions, & times were way slower than what Bruce Anstey got on the old-school carbied 'classic' YZR 500 last year. At least the rider was not t...

Re: Race fuels,methanol,e85. settings and blow ups

E85 is half way to a methanol setting ,the old petrol to methanol conversion factor was 1.5X with e85 it's about 1.25X

Re: Block connectors - sources?

For the connectors and associated bits & pieces, I've had good service from CycleTerminal ( http://www.cycleterminal.com/ ). As well as connector bodies, his bullet, ring and spade terminals seem very good quality, unlike some Ebay sellers whose terminals are very thin and flimsy! Some connecto...

Re: Liner suppliers

Use Arrum plating at your peril.

If your making a liner making the liner out of 6061 aluminium and having it nicasil is much better(and cheaper) than a thick iron liner.

Re: Block connectors - sources?

Can't see this subject in a simple search, so I'll chuck it up there. Most of us have had projects with pretty manky looms, and I often wonder if the block connectors used (in my case old Yams) are essentially out of some Japanese electrical suppliers standard parts catalogue. Another subject is wh...

Re: Piston Coatings

Sorting cylinder heads and ignition is free hp :P The skirt coatings are probably good but to me if it doesn't make more hp on the dyno I don't usually bother

A Dutch guy was collating stories from behind the Iron Curtain. In East Germany for the average bloke, and apparently if you were a decent rider was all good be it road race mx or ISDE. You could skive off all day at your "job" and work on your bike, and use whatever skills you could sourc...
