RZ500 engine removal

Post by mboddy »

We are about to remove the engine in my brother's RZ500 so we can replace the main bearings, etc.

Any tips to help remove the engine will be greatly appreciated.

Nothing out of the ordinary.
I'd just say make sure you support it from underneath while you undo all the supports.
They're a pretty heavy donk.

Yeah! What he said!
Damn, those sour grapes taste like sh1t!

Just be organised and have enough clean workspace, take iphone photos as you go, support the lump, etc etc.
Aldi have been doing cheap dolly/skate things for cheap, put a couple of carefully measured blocks on one of those and maybe you could drop the motor a few mm onto it and roll it out.
I have several wrecks on the go in a limited garage space and find that small skates/trolleys on good castors are very useful in a number of ways.

Mostof mine are in whhels off/bare frame/motor in frame with wheels off, sit the carcass on a trolley and it can be pushed around easily. Aldi do specials at fifteen bucks with four decent castors. Cheapest way of buying castors for other purposes too
