It's times like these that the word "no" seems considerably too short.

Carbon panels for the lamb are cool, it would have a nice vibe and be lighter.

Plenty (well a few) RZ lumps in scoots now, pointless maybe but fun all the same. Today I went for a spin in a Toyota 86 with a 400bhp+ turbo conversion. Way more power than the tyres can cope with but when it hooked up it was such a good shove in the back it threw you up the road. I loved it.

Until the engine dies.... plenty of those things have gone bang after turbos were fitted.

haha, well it was at a specialist being made reliable so I agree with that. defo proves that the 86/brz can handle more bhp than standard tho, If only subaru will fit their own turbo it will be superb.

MRT (Sydney) does a kit that is the only one I am aware of that won't void the manufacturers warranty, if they fit it though..

Yep, and there are plenty of (including some very dodgy) places who will fit some kind of kit they bring in from another country with little or no development or backup it seems, but not any really well thought out turbo/supercharger ones from what I read. MRT have a good name, and its easy to think they are the place to go for anything Subaru engined, but they are just one of many marque specialists. Ive used MRT parts and had no issues, but these days I would go elsewhere with any Subaru, but that's just me. MRT's kit is just a chip right now from what I can tell, its useful but not doubling the bhp - their chip keeps your warrnty, but serious gains would void it for sure.

In discussion yesterday we decided that really what the 86/brz needs is a supercharger rather than a turbo as these motors lack ooomph low down. The turbo kits are the fashion tho and the car we were talking about was amazing for its mid-high end shove, getting some more torque and a bunch more power would be nice, maybe 300ish at the top would be more useful, standard is 200. All that said the standard base car is very good, just not 'fast fast', and slower than my current ride which is great for nipping in n out of traffic. Im still deciding if this is where I want to go next...

This is MRTs twin charger project, not for sale AFAIK:

And this is Crawford's which i reckon whens sorted would be amazing for getting from A-B across country LOL

how on earth did we get from a nasty scooter conversion to this... only on the forums!

JonW you started it!

I'll take an MX-5 Any day of the week! Factory turbo or bolt on kit, they love a bit of boost. My 2c.

The problems I have heard about are in the bottom end, which is nothing a turbo kit can fix, no matter who it's from.

Whilst MX5 is a great car, unfortunately amongst most groups of men, it's seen as a girls car.
Side by side with 86/BRZ it's clear which most men would choose. No offence to male MX -5 owners. Despite the sales numbers.
