RZ250 1XH Chain

Post by pkay »

Morning
I need to replace the chain on my 1986 RZ and different sources suggest different chains. I have either an 530-102 or a 520 -108? Which is the correct one?
Cheers

defo 520 on an RZ. 530 is the LC and remember in the UK they were all called RDs.

the last number 102 / 108 etc is the length in case you didnt know, its the number of links.

Roger on that - it seems that when you search on the part number it is supersceeded and sends you to a 530 pitch. So does the 34J use a 520 as well?

Really? thats very strange as a chain is still just a chain and still available Eg:
http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/y ... 06-00.html

AFAIK all RZs are 520... 34J is an RZ engine case, its an early one and very LC like in design, but its still an RZ...

Interesting Jon, thought the only changes in RZ cases was details such as rev counter drive.
PK, Yam saw the light and put a more sensible chain on after the LC as the chaps say, often a bit cheaper too.

The 34J is said to have a slimmer crank originally, but Ive never found an OEM one so cant say, and it has the cut out under the front sprocket that the LC does and the later ones dont. Otherwise from 85 they get electric tacho, so no rev counter drive as you say, otherwise the same.

Wonder if the main cases on the Banshee are any different.

Ahhhhh, gotta love consustency. I'm loving the Yamaha parts bin approach, gives way more options for fixing up these old bikes.

yes thats very true indeed. you can fit engines forwards and back etc etc

Wheels are the same bearings as are the steering stems on the LC and RZ, same front axle, spacers and speedo drive for them too...
