Porge. mate just for the low cost and time check, you can take of your stator cover and wiggle the end of the crank. there should be no movement. wWhen you take a barrell of you can pull on the conrod and feel for movement through the big end. then measure the movement side to side of the little end where the piston connects. whithout going to a manual it should be no more the 2mm side to side if it's more then it's and indictation of a worn crank. If the crank has play in any of the stator or rod checks you best start saving for a crank rebuild. most of these old air collds can do 20-30k miles then the cranks buggered, they'll still run with a worn crank but i wouldn't be revving it to much, iv'e had one start rattling when cold and howling when hot.
