New guy with a GT125 asking premix

Post by whitehuntsman »

Hi,
My GT125 does not have a oil tank. How easy will it be to set it up for use with premix?
Can I just block off the pump and go straight to the carby?

Can you not get another oil tank from somewhere? Premix means you always have to mess around with mixing oil whenever you refuel, which on a small two stroke will be pretty regularly!

If you run premix, you are also likely to need to consider rejetting your carbs to compensate for the thicker fuel mix. All the Japanese manufacturers spent a lot of time and money perfecting their automatic lubrication systems, so for the life of me I don’t understand why some folks remove them (not that you have done that in this instance).

I always have my oil pumps overhauled during a resto, just so I know that they should be as good as they can be for the next 30-40 years.

In short, Jon has a point, the pumps do give out and are often rebuildable.
there’s a guy known as Arrow does them by return post.
People who race twoeys or have a lot to do with them can often do them
