Fella in Geurnsey restoring an old Yam - website

Post by BRG1200 »

Figured this would be of interest to people other then just the Yamaha fans on here:

rd350nrebuild.wordpress.com/

The guy above lives on an island in between the UK and France (English speaking).

He's enthusiastically getting into a detailed resto of a bike most would probably have parted out - it's a bit of a challenge, totally rusted up.

The first full fairing version of the Powervalve models came in Europe and Japan with a naked version, the N1. There was an N2 as well, which came with the new 1986 version of the powervalve models.

Another note for context - the 350's of all liquid cooled RD/RZ models far outnumber 250's in the UK, as the old 250 learner category went out in about 1980/1981, as government worked out a modern 250 could crack 100mph/160kph no problemo.

Learners were then restricted to 125's of 12hp or less..... if you do a bit of research you'll find and amazing array of neat 125's including the most popular choice, the RD125.

I reckon the link above will entertain you for a while, and maybe some of you guys can offer some helpful hints to this fella He's "learning as he goes" to an extent, though he's clearly quite a handy individual.

He's a good bloke, I had and email chat with him a few weeks ago.
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.
