84 RG250 - shock options

Post by Gazzah »

Hi all,
Just got myself an 84 RG250, and the rear shock is well past its use by date: was wondering if anyone knows if any later model shocks can be used(like the R6 shock in Rz's) I havent yet pulled it out to measure the length or mounts.

thanks for any info.

Cheers

I got my '83 RG250 rear shock reconditioned by RAD in Qld. Cost was reasonable $190 plus postage

I take it Suzuki don't do them anymore?
In SA Peter Hoey seems to be able to recondition most things. Cheaper than a Hagon at $550.
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.

Do your self a favour reconditioning mid 80's suspension is really only good to keep the mudguard from dragging on the rear tyre. The $200 spent on reconditioning a shit old shock would be better spent on a Nitron, Wilbers or YSS (about $350-500 for base model).
