I think tthat is the best pption...at least you know what you will have. I did much the same but mine required ta new fuel intake sout being grafted into the tank as the original was knacked and would nor seal properly. The all up cost was $1200.painted including the side covers annd front guard. Some may find it on the expensive side....but it waz worth it in the end and I am happy with it.

Thanks Duncan and Sunset. Not that I was about to run out and buy one. I have one good tank (and a project LC) and other priorities.

Although I've been 'on the look out' for a LC tank and had this as an option in the back of my mind, I do not consider these as an option for neither cheapness or function.

I have no doubt that the Indians could put out the product and are probably willing but from reputation they would need close supervision and reeducation into the meaning of the word 'quality'. If anyone has the time or motivation to provide what they should provide themselves, quality assurance, is another matter entirely.

But it won't be me :$ .

i am getting some TZR250 tanks made in India in alloy via a US company.
Have received the first one and have sent feedback.
Waiting to see how good the next one is.
Will have to get a couple of minor corrections done on this first tank but I am pretty happy with it and it looks stunning.

Now those alloy tanks look nice!

OK.... The original idea to work with Yamaha is dead. No one wanted to do what was needed so I can see that support would be lacking, and that means its a dead duck.

SORRY TO THOSE THAT POSTED, BUT THE YAMAHA DEAL IS NOW CANNED.

Doesnt stop anyone looking for other ideas like the alloy tank above tho. :)

Depending on the Aussie dollar and the final spec it should be somewhere between $600 and $700.

They could do LCs. They need a tank to copy.
For the TZR or RZ tank I think they could get the best fit if they also had a frame to fit it to (or part of one).

I have a part frame for the early RZ (83-85) but not a tank they could copy, anyone got a dead one (Pat still got those ones you had on your shelf?)

That price sounds pretty good to me for how it looks in the pic. And the RZ tank isn't that different in shape than the TZR, will drop you PM mboddy.

For a made in India tank at $600-700 I think someone is making a handsome mark up ;) .

But whose complaining  . Alloy won't rust ;) and you don't have to paint it, and that will save $$$$$'s

Those TZR tanks look unreal, the company will probably get better at making them to.

I don't think you will have an issue John, just don't ask them the question that's what I would do.

Jon
Your lc should be fine even with the big bire kit. Not all vintage bikes are completely original. The overall aspects of your bike qualifiez. you will not win any major prizes during co perition time that's all.
