50kb is way too big for an avatar.
What dimentions is the image you are trying to add?

As an example, my avatar is 8kb.
If you want help to reduce the file size, let me know.

Hybrid, how the hell do I attach a pic from my Gallery as an Avatar pic ?
All I get when I go to my Avatar, is external URL or the Avatar gallery.
Cant I just upload a pic, or use one from my gallery.
Sorry if its a dumb question - dont use forums a lot

You can use the "external" url of the pic from the Gallery if its small enough to be used as an avatar.
The "thumb" versions should be small enough to be used as an avatar.

Find the image you want, then right click on it and go to properties. You should see the "location". Copy and paste that into the avatar external URL.

By the way, the reason we have the size restrictions is so that we don't end up filling every page in the forum with massive pictures every time someone posts.

In the Mustang forum I'm a part of, you have guys with 640x480 pictures as their avatar or signature. Its a horrible forum to look at sometimes, but a good bunch of people.

If its the "old girl" image you want to use, try this as the URL:

Code: Select all

Give it a go now mate.
The server didn't like looking up its own address to check the avatar.
Sorted now!
