what master cylinder 84 RG250?

Post by BRG1200 »

Hope someone knows, looking for a new master cylinder for my little RG.
The one on it is in crappy condition.
Does a GSXR or some other model do the job?
Suzuki only make service parts now, I want to replace the assembly in one hit. So many other jobs to do I don't want to dick about with this butchered one.
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.

Have a look on the underside and get the number off it. I think it's a 12mm piston?
I replaced mine with one from a GS.
Basically if the piston size is the same any master cylinder will do. If 12mm then most dirt bike M/Cs will fit.
A larger piston size i.e.15mm will push more fluid into the caliper faster giving more sudden stopping. This can be good or bad depending...

Thanks fellas. Reckon I'll get one off Norbo's site, meant for LC's but generic and cheap.

Remember to check if it needs to have a mirror or resivour mount and that it comes with a brake light switch compatible with your connectors.

Soaking my masters in wd40 after getting what I can off them, but they're basically toast. Remember in the old days they used to say "aluminium doesn't rust"? well it sure as feck turns to chewed up white fuzz, and boy can it hang on to a steel fastener.
