TZR250 for Broadford next year

Post by eflex »

It's hardly a project, but I've decided to set up my $1300 buy as a track bike for next easter. I'll put it back to club on road reg after, but for the weekend they are celebrating Bathurst races 38-88, so I'll enter it as a replica of the 87 race era won by Peter Goddard and Mick Doohan in second place. Good things found so far, well all the electrics are there, spark, fixed the usual fuel tap full of crap, carb kit bought, fairing and windscreen bolts done, the bad, well low compression, last owner painted the wheels with house paint over the original red. New tyres needed, plenty of tread but probably originals, as it's only done less than 6000km. Image Image

interested to see the paint scheme and stickers you come up with eflex. I love Yamaha race colours, Yellow black, white red, blue. I'm now liking privateer bikes in race trim to.
The Tzr has a great fairing with lots surface to work with. I like your stickers greaser. Do you sell those? I seem to have only red 2 strokers.Image Image

Nah, don't sell, just interested in what makes a bike "work", I have seen some absolute shocker paint jobs and colour combinations of wheel / frame / body colours. The Brits, OMG, some seem to just buy the bling caus it's there, and completely ignore the visual result, I guess it's a personal thing. Best example I can think of is Stankflappers FZRZ, change of exhaust colour and can position made that bike, worth checking out.

The RZ in that picture has a classic look that IMHO is the only AU RZ paint scheme that truly works, even better on a 500.

The TZR, if the paint is OK, is prime for a cheap make over. The right combo of stickers could transform that bike. Google images got all those pics that could be made or bought. There are plenty of good pics on eBay cheap as well.

Like you, keen to follow thread and see results.

This really works for me, except id like to see what it would look like if the the speed blocks were aligned and carried on to the tail light.

Wish I could use photoshop..

well the TZR is a little closer to being ready, new paint, the plastic bag on the ground is the full red decal set from RDdeals, and the replica sponsor stickers are being organised too. Image
