Just restoring my Suzuki Gt185 and it's has a fair bit of oxidisation on some of the metal parts. Any suggestions on how to get it off and how to stop it returning.

Wet/soda blasting, and then keep it out of the weather. 8)

Are they zinc coated bits? If they are get them recoated. If not I use a rustdissolver then polish the bolt/nut with my dremel wire brush. If it's visible I'll also use a bit of mothers metal polish and give the bolt head a rub on a cloth as well. Has lasted at least 4 years on the GT380 so far. If it's a chrome item with surface gunk works well - if the chrome is rustd through wont work, just turns the metal black. And don't leave it in too long or the metal goes black/grey.
