RG 400

Post by EPApolice »

Does anyone on here have an RG400? I am thinking of buying one and am just looking for opinions. Obviously the 500 is the go but until I find a buyer for one of my kidneys that aint going to happen. The price is under 4k but there are a few bits missing that can be got so allowing a total budget of 5k :|
Cheers.

rg400s are the exact same bike just 100cc less

only sold to australia via import

i have one and no one knows the difference unless you know what to look for

ovious give away are the front brakes then the engine number and frame number and the 400 has some other small internal differences

if you want to now anything else just ask as a 500 sold in perth for 13k last week

Apart from the front brake rotors being pinned rather than floating, the chain size and gearing are different as is the jetting in the 28mm carbs (#135 MJ as apposed #120) to,also the Rg400 comes with a fuel guage and different chambers.Easy to fool even previous owners of RG500's as I found ,being that neither of my grey import 400's were stickered as such.I changed the main jets to #120 after trying #110 which went like hell but caused heat issues. Also converted one to run 17" wheels both ends to allow radials in the latest compounds (110 front size and 150 rear) This required ugly rear cowel mods and widening of the rear pipe exits but scared the crap out of 750cc+ riders in the the twisties.Real motors fire every time the piston is up!!! Scrub.

I hear you Mike, I have enough projects to keep me busy for the rest of my life. I just got an RZ500 to keep the RG company.
