Painting 250LC Exhausts

Post by pkay »

While I've got the engine out due to the gearbox horrors mentioned in my other post I think I'll paint the exhausts. Has anyone done this - I'd be keen on paint brand/colour suggestions. I saw Yambits were selling a suggested can but I can't see the brand from the photo.

I painted my modified 500 top pipes recently with Dupli-Color High Heat paint from Supercheap.
I have used the BBQ paint in the past and it's definitely flat black.

This stuff looks more satin and closer to stock IMO.
This will give you an idea:

If that's close to what you want, I will double check the can when I get home.

Does it keep a reasonable finish?
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.

I haven't looked since I put the bike back on the road and took it for a ride, but its meant to be rated to 1500C or 2500C or something silly like that.

Bob at Ace of Sprays has arranged blasting and repainting for $300. That's an awesome deal - Bob is a legend.
