I doubt it, he'd probably buy some from you to on sell.

Interestingly someone on norbos forum managed to remove the tar and then made a new foam surround and glued it into his, worth a search I would think.L.B. wrote: Now is anyone redoing the rubber surrounds for the gauges? Mine have melted.....

Mine are a bit nasty too, look like they've cooked up in the heat.

its actually a chemical reaction i think where it breaks down. Rubber o rings do the same in the back of watches, when you remove the caseback you can be left with a sticky black tar that is quite fluid and once stuck to something will never come off, and its just simple rubber... or was.
Re: Rubber headlight cover for rectangular yamaha 250/350/500 ypvs model
Any suggestions on what product would remove the black gunk but not melt the plastic surround? I've seen your write up on using MEK which I've used previously. Good stuff but will eat almost anything non-metal. Maybe thinners or carb cleaner?

i would always start small and work up. gentle application of thinners on say a cotton bud would be a good start Id think.

In the past, I found removing gooey stuff easier by making it cold, really cold..
May help?

Can someone please post to advise when these are available from Norbo, as I will need one for the F2 resto in the future and no doubt they will be non-existent then!

Just had a rifle through a bin or two at my friendly local wreckers, all the rubbers on the many headlights were perished beyound the point that I'd spend money on them, and the gauges (1985 on) which have that grey plastic over mysterious black goo have devolved to black goo.
