That looks like being a very special special when finished. Can't wait to see it complete! 👍

Thanks Oz & L.B.

It's getting to the exciting part soon... starting for the first time!
(I just want to shorten the exhaust pipes and angle up the mufflers while they're still clean inside, before I start it.)
All Ign and Instruments wiring finished tonight, so I could technically start it. Just the lights, blinkers, switch electrics to go.

I'll have to learn how to post a video of it running.

Here's some shots of the exhaust being shortened.
First pic has one pipe in the old position and one in the new position.
Second shot is the pipes in the final position and ready for fuel and some kicks tomorrow. 8O

Thanks L.B & Oz,

It seems to be running very rich as the plugs are wet, but at least its running. Lots of smoke out of one side and bugger all out of the other so some tweaking to be done. I wonder how tolerant my neighbours are going to be with all the white smoke !

White smoke... hmm.
Which side is more smoke coming out of? If it's the right hand side, you could have a bad gearbox seal and it's burning gearbox oil.

It's the left side when sitting on the bike that's smoking more than the right. Both plugs are wet though. I thought it could be the oil pump so was going to disconnect the pump and run pre mix to help get the carbs setup.
Hadn't considered gearbox oil but cant see how it could get to lhs cylinder.

Ive just done a quick compression test and both sides are the same. I also put my finger over the gearbox oil filler hole while I cranked it over and didnt feel any pressure or suction. Ive disconnected the oil feed tubes and blanked the carb feeds and will try it tomorrow with premix. If its still smoking more on one side then I might have a problem!

All good if it's the left side. There is no way for oil to get in there.
Normally 2smoke oil has a blue tinge to it. White is normally not a good sign.

If it's a brand new engine, there could be some excess lube in there that was splashed around during the build.
If the oil pump is set up right, I would be surprised if it's that. They're pretty reliable.

The other possibility is coolant. But you'd get excess pressure in the cooling system if you were getting coolant in the combustion chamber.

Tried with premix and much less smoke at idle.
Also found the right carb idle circuit not working properly so rhs cylinder only comes on properly when the needle comes into play. Then both sides smoke evenly.
Off with the carbs and try 25 pilots as current it idles smoothest and comes off idle best with air screw fully in.

Might be worth sending the oil pump to Arrow on the RDLC site Phil, just for the peace of mind.

Just got mine back from him and it is honestly better than new and a very reasonable price.
