Rd 250 pipes

Post by James »

Hi there, I'm a newby and I own a Yamaha 250rd f of 1980 vintage. Currently it has expansion chambers but are off a racer and don't quite look the part. I've a pair of lc pipes and was wondering two things, will they fit? and is it worth it? Rega des James

Hi James,

You could probably make the LC pipes fit but I doubt it would be easy and it is doubtful there would be any performance gain over your existing race expansion chambers imho.

I may know of some original 2R8 exhausts if they are of interest.

If you have an aircooled RD then the LC pipes will look out of place, and you'll have to cut the header pipes and re-direct or replace them to fit.
My skanky 400 came with modded LC pipes, they don't follow the line or style of the bike and the headers are 400 headers crudely welded to LC cigar pipes
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.
