Mega pack bolt kit LC

Post by Antman »

Has anyone tried one of these of Ebay?

In the past Ive gone to a bolt supplier near me who are quite cheap for Stainless bolts.

Thought I’d try something different.

not tried them but used plenty of stainless in the past, yambits did a cheap engine kit I bought a few times.

Remember that the level of detail for a resto means that you want OEM nowadays, stainless wont cut it for the nut and bolt resto,

I find it hard to go for Zinc fixings as you know they rust not in the short term but down the line.

As the bike has come with period mods
Short can Microns
Tarozzi rearsets

I will work with what Ive got plus I could never have a LC without chambers.

I will put it back to stock colours Even though I quite like the burgendy with gold tuning forks stickers on the tank, I’ve never had a stock coloured LC so it would be a nice change.
I don’t think leaving the Microns and rearsets on will devalue it, primarily because they are period speed goodies.
If the Anoraks can’t cope with that then stuff em😙

You could always go with one of the less common standard colour schemes like the candy blue, which is quite striking.

In our climate rezinc'd and green'd bolts will take a long time to rust, but i was only mentioning it as with the price rises for these bikes there has also been a similar increased interest in things like OEM fastners as resto standards have improved, same with getting the correct colours and finishes on parts that were green etc. I have stainless and painted black parts that should be green on one of my resto bikes, but that was done in 2010 and would have been fine then, less so now.

Period mods and things like chambers wont be a huge issue, and lets face it decent pipes are very hard to find. Tho late last year a mate of mine picked a NOS set up, but they cost the price of stainless chambers... the price of a full resto is never cheap, and where would you ever find another set. A set of mirrors sold on ebay last week for 400 quid... yep $700 for nos mirrors!

Anyway, as has been said, build the bike for you if youre keeping it, build it 100% standard if selling it to get as much as you can. I love bikes that have been built to the taste of the owner, feel free to do what you like to it, show us your personality and to hell with the naysayers, thats what we all did with them back in the day!

Thanks guys

Can you even still get the khaki green bolts or is there some one around who can replace?

I might be better just getting everything re zinked as you know the bolts have a number embossed in the head can’t get any more genuine than that.

I do like candy blue
My last LC was Mazda Blue, no idea to upload photos of the old girl can some one help me.

Cheers

I found SEC Plating in Belmore they offer a whole lot of different finishes.

Is this them Jon?

They do what’s called Olive Drab would suspect that would be the Green Drab you refer to.

I haven’t spoken to them yet.

I seem to remember on my last Lc caliper bolts being chrome and bottom yoke pinch bolts beingchrome too.

Same for the 2 top yoke bolts.

This Lc has olive drab caliper bolts and olive drab for all the other previously mentioned.

It’s got me scratching my head.

Did Yam mix it up over the years.
