Rx125 tune

Post by elkosguy »

Hello everyone, I am new here and this is my very first post.
I am currently restoring my late father's old Yamaha RX125 2 stroke this bike has low k's and has been in the family since new in 1980, it has however sat in a shed for the last 12 years, my problem is that I have replaced various rubbers, new fuel tap and put a kit through the carby, now when it's running it is extremely doey like the choke is on and smokes heaps what could be wrongImageImage

Given the symptoms you describe and the fact that the bike has advisedly been stood for a long time, I would suspect the crank seals have gone hard.

Are you able to perform a leak down test, as that should confirm if they are the issue.

Thanks ozhammer, I pulled the carby out and found the 'e' clip on the throttle needle had come of I assume this was the culprit.
