get a connector off an old loom? crimp on some new terminals and push em in. job done.

Glad youre sorted D. just goes to show, dont always let the mechanic have the last word. This cost you nothing but some time. I hope these connection issues werent made by the mechanic and now cause you to mistrust other work he's done.

Defo go right through these connections and be sure youre happy. the one you dont do may well let you down later etc.

Mechanic not at fault - as I said early in the oiece he did me a big “mates rates” favour and spent a fair bit of time on the bike on top of pulling it all down and straightening the frame etc. he could not spend any more time on it with the legitimate work backing up.
The best thing I could do for this bike is put a new loom on it to get rid of all loose, corroded and dodgy connections. I do have a NOS loom, but I’ll hold off doing that until I’ve got the bike through the govt inspection yard and got a South Australian rego plate on it.
I have another LC in bits so I’ll need a second NOS loom for that too.

The UK Lc club was selling new looms, not nos ones but modern made ones.

As you might have seen, a nos loom is close to $1K now.

I did wonder. Might be better off buying a pair of tepro ones and sellingbthe NOS. Will investigate.

Depends on what you want to build I guess. A 'proper resto' would need an original loom. If youre not doing a full nut n bolt job then sell your nos loom perhaps to someone who will be desperate for one as they are solidly nla now.

FWIW The UK is mad for LC parts right now cos of all the covid builds, and they start another 4wks of furlough due to lockdown on Thursday. I expect yet more bikes will get built by blokes avoiding their mrs and kids lol.
