"whats that youve got there?... a 450? "
yeah...
"what cereal packet did that come out of? "
huh?...

damn peter Stevens! wish they would hurry up with that shock mount.
3 days wait has turned into 2 weeks!

I was surprised today at just how much of the bike I had to remove to get the shock into position... I had to remove the entire subframe, airbox and plastics.

but the silver lining to the cloud is that next weekend we will hopefully see the long awaited installation of the cylinder!

The bike in its stripped down state is looking much like a blank canvas...
-A blank canvas is a very scary thing for someone like me, I start thinking about cafe/bucket racers and other tasty money pits.

It could make for a very nice add on project in the future

see what I mean

customs studs made (10mm longer)
1 HT stud and 3 HT bolts
Image

bar risers turned up so that I can lower the forks through further to get a good balance, and use sexy fat bars haha
I fitted them up, dropped the forks through and now the front/rear suspension is behaving my nicer together
Image

Im a big fan of mock up fitting, it makes problems rear there heads before they become a problem. but so far everything is looking really good.
well except for the gap under the cylinder which needs to be filled by the 5mm spacer plate.

Finally, we've got a local Agip dealer who has a permanent shop front!
THANKYOU APRILIA MELBOURNE CITY STORE!!!!
I've stocked up on a few bottles of the Castor/Synthetic oil and their 70W-90 gear-synth oil performs well (friction drag) and is durable.

Spacer Plate turned up!

and installed

Looking at doing a 1.3mm squish and a 22 or 23cc head.

things to do this weekend
-Bolt up the exhaust
-Get the servo motor functioning
-Install a 13 degree flat curve on the ignition for first start up and piston heat cycling
-set the PV curve

then twiddle my thumbs untill head turns up

Iv got a good story about those crownies...

The first time I ripped the fuel tank off, it wasnt empty like I thought it was... so I quickly put the fuel hose into one of my empty crownies bottles..

a week or so later I was out having a cigar and a few crownies in the shed working on the bike and picked up what I thought was my crownie and took a swig...

fuk me, wasnt expecting that flavour...

Im just glad the cigar wasnt any closer to my mouth at the time

head turned up

Image

Image

I managed to drop a head dowel down into the coolant jacket GRRR
but a trusty zip tie and butchered fridge magnet came to the rescue
Image

installed with a home made copper head gasket
compression feels really strong, can barely kick it over.
Image

plumbed
Image

but unfortunately I will have to undo all of the work Iv done tomorrow morning (asked for half a day off).
Iv got two stripped threads in the top of the cylinder. Im going to have to tap them out to M10.
then re-install the cylinder/exhaust/radiators/plumbing/head.

then finally fill her with fuel/oil and kick her to life tomorrow arvo

haha that's what everyone's asking.

Its a data-logging supercomputer lent to me by the military, fits into the palm of your hand.

or maybe its 2x 6v torch batteries is a more believable story. my charging system stopped working. turned out afterwards it was just a 5A fuse, Ill upgrade it to 10A tomorrow and try again.
