I found that heating the bearing with a heat gun (30bucks from bunnings) loosened them up enough to just fall off.

I think Lozza just rebuilt a KX60/80 so he might be better to give a definite answer.

not sure about how to identify part numbers, apart from looking up a kawa parts fiche,

but you can most likely take your bearings down to SKF or NSK and hope they will have some nice aftermarket ones for you :)

or measure them with verniers and look up skf catalogue online.
(again 30 bucks from bunnings, gee I love bunnings, and I tested the el' cheapo verniers and they are as accurate as the expensive ones by about 0.01mm)

dunno if thats the question you were asking?

to remove a bearing stuck in the cases, just pop in in the oven on 200 degrees, if you put it upsidedown you will find the bearings might just fall out like mine did after 5 mins.

Mike, There is a puller designed to squeeze behind the bearings with a conical tapered wedge that pulls the bearings off. expensive...... snap on ones are circa $100 each...... crappy ones that only last 3 or 4 uses are $25...

I see on a few of the discussions reference to Main bearings These may indeed be a common bearing number ie 6305, but the clearance rating of the bearing is very important for life.
Main bearings are usually rated C3 clearance, which means that they have more clearance than a normal bearing to allow for the "take up" in clearance when heating of engine components occurs.

Basically you will be safe using a C3 clearance bearing...... (some bikes like over 360cc two stroke enduro bikes use C4.) but the life of the bearing can be as little as 500km when using a "normal" clearance one as a main.

Typically if a normal clearance bearing is circa $8, the C3 equivalent will be $15. (SKF typical)

I quite often hear quoted "I don't use those crap OE Jap bearings in my Kawa/SUZ/Yam/Hon, you just feel how much better this new FAG/SKF/etc is"

He would be feeling quite a different thing in a few weeks....

Mike, the snap-on number for the puller is CJ950
that one will do up to 6305 size (62mm)

they come up on ebay from time to time circa $70 but retail is $100+

if you are only going to use it once or twice, there are cheaper chinese ones around starting at $20.
