My Sons first project

Well after seeing his Ol Man stuffing around with bikes for so long, I finally got the boy into his first project - A 1984 KH100EX, thanks to a good mate and fellow forum member who keeps a low profile :-)

The plan is, to spend some time together Father and Son like (without bloody computer screens, xbox, ps3, and all that sh.t) and have some fun. If things go well (final year in school) and he does most of the work i'll rego it and its his. Great little "shop" bike.

So far (first day) we have stipped it down to the bare essentials, kicked it over, got some spark but not enough to keep going well, so its a full pull down, clean and some paint (but not a full resto).

He's keen as mustard and ive already got a list of bearings / screws / and various parts to get and the wheels, tank and side panels will be on the way to work with me monday for a sand and coat of paint.

Anyway, just thought id share it, as Im happy as a lark with a shed buddy, although it does add to cash flow issues 8O

If anyone happens to have any spare parts etc, Manuals or just plain advice we would appreciate hearing from you.

Pete

Good luck. It is a great shared experience and practical learning for your son as well. I did it with my son with a KX80 and the LC. The LC was his first bike - he got his licence on it.

Ciao. Enjoy 8) .

Well 5 min later, that damn xbox controller had all of his attention......

Yeah LB, been trying hard for awhile now, finally seems to have paid off. I guess him being old enough to get his learners etc has helped.
Geez, an RZ. I wouldve killed for that in my day, guess the new generations have different priorities. Mine was bikes n chicks

Kinda glad we did though, frame at bottom is knackered where foot pegs join and will need welding. Hmm wonder if we can put better ones on ?
