Re: Fleabay RD tank I brought

apparently the old lead soldering can be pretty effective to repair tanks.

I keep meaning to have a go one day on my knackered RZ tank.

Re: Couple of island classic photos

My weekend was a bit of a fizzer, but i was able to prove that the chassis change was spot on after a bit of rear end tweaking. Fuel starvation issues on the RH carb due to the butchered Spondon tank were a headache gradually i had it working pretty good until detonation on the LH cylinder ended my ...

Re: What Wheels? RD / LC

Actually that colour is, to me, more appealing than the RZ. but they my missus has always said I have no tcolour coordination !! I've also got a pair of spoked wheels for sale if anyone needs a pair. The front is a TZ hub, stainless spokes on 18" 2.15 rim. The rear is a spoked disc type hub fro...

Re: New bugger with a rd250lc rolling ish box of bits

Welocme Thommo thats not a bad buy but you will have a few more grey hairs to come...LOL The cranks aren't thateasy to find in good condition so beware. The common problem is corrosion of the big end journal as the pin is integral to the inner crank web. replacements are available, but I'd factor in...

Re: RZ 350 Aluminum Swing Arms

iT looks to be a very simple design, and they are often the best - not too technical yet practical. I can see its just a rectangular alloy extrusion, cut & shut with bits added. I have a Mill and Lathe so its just a case of finding the correct materials, and time. (something i don't have a lot o...

Re: RZ 350 Aluminum Swing Arms

I wonder what grade of alloy section they use.............. looking at the photo they don't look that difficult to make - time consuming yes, as they would need a jig to ensure they stay true. Once I improve my alloy TIG skills I might have a go as i have all the machinery required to produce the pa...

Re: Finally got Myself an RZ250R

Nice looking bike Pete, just read this catching up after the Christmas break. I'll second Jon W's comment Re Yambits seals too. Every Forum relative to RD's recommends to steer slear of them. One other thing you can do is decoke the pipes. I used to used to use caustic soda but its messy & time ...

Re: What Wheels? RD / LC

My LC uses an aircooled spoke front hub fitted with a 2.15 alloy rim, but as a race bike does not need the speedo drive so spacers are relatively straightforward. I use a TZ disc with Grimeca caliper and 17mm axle with forks drilled out accordingly. The rear is an aircooled RD350 drum on a 2.5 rim. ...

Re: looking for TZR250 3MA

One of then Guys, Paul, from the TZR forum is flogging some complete bodywork which is freshly painted off his 3ma. http://pure2strokespirit.net/forums/index.php?topic=1032.0 that might be a better option, but don't be put off by the chinese stuff as its not as bad as you might think these days. Jus...
