RGV250 vj22 piston wanted.
Hi all. I am looking for a RGV250 vj22 piston. It doesn't need to be new, it can an old worn out one. It only needs to have both piston ring pins in place.I will pay for postage to get it too me. Genuine pistons for early RGV's (J/K model)appear to no longer be available anywhere, and no one seems t...

Re: Motobatt batteries
Watch out for Motobat batteries. They are not always the most reliable. I've had one in the past and it was fine (until I killed it by leaving my ignition on - stupid). However, there have been plenty of reports of them failing prematurely for no good reason. Just my opinion of course - but I avoid ...

Re: Boost Bottles
Hey AusMechem.
Just want you to know I wasn't trying to set you up or anything. I was genuinely interested in any better information you may have had re boost bottles. Problem is, when I saw what you said, I didn't think it really stood up.

Re: SUZUKI TS250X
What year model is the bike? I believe Suzuki have made many of there old workshop manuals available online, but I'm not sure if your bike is among them.

Re: Boost Bottles
I watched the video again. Twice He does not talk about the distance from carbie to crankcase. He is talking about the entire intake length from the airbox to the crankcase. And weather it is tuned or not, there simply will a frequency (rpm) where it works best and others where resonance will be an ...

Re: Setting RGV250 vj21A idle
Thanks guys. Would it be worth doing a better write up of it and post it in two stroke tech, for the benefit of all? Or is what I've already posted enough?

Re: Setting RGV250 vj21A idle
Problem sorted. When I thought some more about it overnight, I reasoned it might be a blocked air jet. After making sure I had good spark, I pulled the relevant carby apart. Lo and behold, the air jet was blocked. Now, with no adjustment of the idle adjuster, the exhaust pressures are roughly equal....

Setting RGV250 vj21A idle
Hey all. I'm having trouble understanding the Suzuki manual re. how to set the idle on my RGV250 vj21A (K model). I adjusted all the cables and set the carburetor slide height to 0.7mm as per manual. It idles when started. The relevant part of the manual shows a picture of somebody putting their han...

[SOLD] Clean NS250R
Hey all There is a NS250R (MC11) for sale at my local wreckers. The bike looks pretty clean (though not perfect). It has been on the track and is currently set up as a race bike, but all the removed 'road' parts are with it and are part of the deal. From memory, the ask is only $2000 (but don't quot...

Re: Boost Bottles
I watched that recently myself. Yes very well explained for the layman. It is, albiet hit and miss. Matt is an engineer not a mechanic. As for boost bottles. He got that one a bit wrong and relied too much on Yamaha sales brochures. Hey AusMechem. You say he got it a bit wrong in the video but don'...

Re: RGV250 Power valve cover drains
Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious that this is a bad idea, but I've found a number of sources that say they have done this to their bike. Also, I have read that drains in the covers is not good for the power valves. Allowing air in, via the drains, tends to cause the black crap to turn to gum. T...

RGV250 Power valve cover drains
As I've searched the web I have found a number of people talking about installing drains in RGV250 power valve covers. The favorite place to run the drain hoses seems to be to the drive chain, in theory lubricating it. I would strongly recommend against this. The black, oily crap that builds up unde...
