Watch out for Motobat batteries. They are not always the most reliable. I've had one in the past and it was fine (until I killed it by leaving my ignition on - stupid). What year model is the bike? I believe Suzuki have made many of there old workshop manuals available online, but I'm not sure if your bike is among them.

Problem sorted. When I thought some more about it overnight, I reasoned it might be a blocked air jet. After making sure I had good spark, I pulled the relevant carby apart.
