RZ250 Rebuild!
Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
This thread has spurred me on to contacting a crowd in the UK (Metal Magic at Heritage Motor Works) that do this sort of work and I am now contemplating taking my F2 tank over to them when I go over next month. I will post my experience on here if I go down that path. Not sure if costs yet but will e-mail them this week to start a conversation.

Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
No luck with resto as yet which is a shame, so looking like it's working with the tank I have, and hoping it comes up as good as his previous work!
Bag of goodies to rebuild the front shocks should arrive Monday, new chain and sprockets arrived, new grips arriving next week.
Looks like both master cylinders are shot though.

Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
I need to learn Japanese
Ex UK, now in Adelaide. LC250/350. DT175. Shed full of sh1t in the vague form of dismantled rusty RD’s and RZ’s.
Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
After the joys of a Covid iso the rebuild had a bit of a pause, but she is slowly getting there.
Dropped the tank off yesterday to a restorer. Not cheap, but his work is incredible. Also ordered a pair of bt46 Bridgestones.
Stanchions have been replaced and shocks polished, rims have also been stripped and polished.
Just need it to stop raining and can start some painting.

Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
Bit more shopping done!
Aluminium radiator ordered and bits to rebuild the brakes.
New windscreen too as the old one was in really poor Nick and I prefer clear over smoke.

Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
Another update!
The tank restoration is going well, here is how much bronze has been cut out of the tank

And the new section welded in

The rims and brakes have been sprayed and have come up pretty good.

And here is the windscreen as the pic in the previous post didn’t work

Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
That is starting to come together nicely. I didn’t have room to take my tank back to the UK this time around and then another one came up on flea bay, so that was snapped up, just to make sure the resto is viable.
Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
New tyres fitted, rotors on and nearly time to get this to a rolling frame!

Re: RZ250 Rebuild!
We have a rolling frame!
