Carbon Wrapping......

Post by OzzyElsie »

........any one done it?

I just bought some to 'give it a go'. I thought I might try an LC side cover or something simple to see how it goes.

The pixies look pretty but I'm wondering about 'real life' appearance. Ditto the application  .

"what cereal packet did that come out of? "

   You're telling me I wasted my $20  .

I had my doubts. I probably should have asked first and purchased second - but the pixies look soooo nice  .

Thanks.

Some of the stuff that's being produced these days is pretty good, but I can't imagine the good stuff will be on ebay.

I'm probably going to use this kind of stuff to do stripes on my mustang, but obviously not carbon fibre look.

It was delivered today. Nice size sheet, should have enough for a few 'failed - try again'

To be frank I'm not certain what carbon fibre should look like :? but I'll treat it like an alternative finish and see what it looks like. This looks like weave embossed vinyl.

There are 'how to' vids on Utube. Should be interesting.

if you use it sparingly it can be nice.

place it over your airbox for instance, use head to shape it, then cover it in several coats of rattle can clear. it will look pretty horn.

just done cover bodywork in it, it looks poxy.

other things you can use it on: bits of your frame that get scraped by your boots, under seat trays, guage cluster etc.

just use it sparingly and you may like it.

20 bucks for that size a sheet sounds like the cheap stuff, I bought 3M di-noc off ebay and it was $20 for 2 A4 sheets

What's the point? The whole idea of carbon fibre is that it's light and strong. If you're just adding a layer of faux carbon you're actually making that bit HEAVIER...just sayin'...

Faking it before you can make it :P .

Bling!!! For appearances only. A $2000 paint job is no faster then a $20 matt black rattle can job either

Maybe I was being a bit harsh. We're not talking racing here, eh?
