In the process of ordering a cdi for my 87 rz250 from borut at the moment, apparently he doesn't remember his unit ever being on an rz250, so he is unsure of the ignition curve, anyone know what the stock curve is?

or know whether it is similar/same as the 350? also i measured my static angle to be 35 degrees? does this sound right?

I would not be surprised if your static angle measured 35 degrees.
Certainly the standard RZ500 was around there somewhere.

Once you have your static angle set in the zeeltronic, you should be able to check your timing with a timing light on the stator. Set up a marker on your engine at around 10 degrees and then set your zeeltronic to 10 degrees and check with timing light. You can trim your static angle until it lines up properly.

good work doc,

sounds like your bike is coming along nicely :) do you need adaptor plates for the calipers or do they line up?

Looking to place my order for the zeel in the next few days, so stay tuned :) hybrid is your hand controller still for hire? :P

Yeah no probs to borrow it if you need.
The performance gains from an RZ are not as good as the RD because you already have a curve in your standard CDI.

You should still notice a difference though.

I wouldnt bother modding your suspension to much lotsa people have tried with no real gains except looks.

Its the frame that lets it down.

Post classic guys are running standard suspension and no doubt doing speeds that are well above the highest road speed limit,Its all in the set up.

The easiest mod to do fork wise is 84 RZ you can still retain the original LC look as the front guard bolts up.

Rear disc use RZ, swinger needs to spread 8mm each side, goes in no probs make up a bracket to take the master cyclinder. Use RZ front wheel with R1 blue spot calipers.

Change fork springs to proggressive type.

No real gains? I beg to differ!
Also a big difference between riding on a track and on shonky NSW roads.

Well set up standard suspension should do the job though if its set up to suit rider weight etc.
