WTF?! Hilarious!
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
Im with you both on this, when all anyone talks about is money its a sad day, these are bikes, not museum pieces.
Not everyone wants big $$$ for their bikes or parts, recently a guy sold an RZ sans motor for $100 and he even delivered it to the new owner. Sure it was a mess and was modded, but on ebay he c/would have asked 1k+ if he was greedy.

Pkay, is that the mag with the Vincent on the front, haven't read that yet. Two of my favourite classics, will look into that

That's the one. It's just a lazy way to fill space. Shame cause I think Jeff Ware seems a decent bloke.BRG1200 wrote:Pkay, is that the mag with the Vincent on the front, haven't read that yet. Two of my favourite classics, will look into that
Btw picked up the tank tonight thanks for the lead, looks promising.
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!

Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
The saddest thing is when a complete nice bike is worth more to a dismantler than to an enthusiast rider.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of bikes are rebuilt are from others who have lost interest or finances and then the parts are sent around the loop again.
I aint planning on selling any more bikes so there is no investment there, but they don't eat anything and except for the registered ones, cost nothing to store in the yard or sheds.
I'll leave them for my kids and hopefully inspire enough love of these old jiggers that they wont fire sale them.

Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
Pkay, a friend just loaned me that mag, I flicked to the LC page and I needed to read no more. It starts by crapping on about 4L0 being the model designation, blah blah blah. No mention of Australian designation or reference to both. You mentioned lazy journalism, if this first impression is correct theyve just cut and pasted a gushing UK article. Before I speak too much out of turn I'll read the article, its just that I remember a thriving enthusiast scene in the UK a few years ago suddenly being turned into hyperinflation, fired by numerous articles sounding like this one! :-/
Gotta watch that sort of thing.

Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
i read the article yesterday and have to agree, its fairly lazy at best.. just filling space, I'm disapointed , i feel like i wasted my money as it was the only reason i got it, ,, ken
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
I hate that kind of stuff. These days I am a jobbing writer for various magazines and would love to write for a local mag, espeicailly one about bikes, and for sure I would have done a better job than that, sigh. :/
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
Just about all the mags printed here are just ripping off articles from UK mags. Old Bike magazine does it all the time word for word and pictures the lot. I only buy Practical Sports bike Mag now and even that is touch and go with the content, at least it has plenty strokers.
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
And it got worse I'm afraid. When I got to the back of said magazine looking for some good info on old dirt bikes all I got was same old garbage of value and worth. Very little substance and a big Yawn!
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
Actually... I thought Mr Ware sold all his bike mags recently to another player?
Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
Blimey.
Can I heartily recommend the following?
Its worth the international subs rate:
Classic Bike
Its been going for years and although its got a mix of what we're into ("Jap Crap"
) and "Brit Shit" I'm pretty sure you would find it a fair read.
Motorcycle Mechanics ("Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics") used to be great but I haven't seen it in sleepy Adelaide in a long time.
Never really got my hands on Practical Sportsbike, though people used to rave about it.

Re: WTF?! Hilarious!
I like PSB as it had more of the bikes I liked in it, i.e. 70s-90s, the other two CMM and CB are ok, but too much brit shit for me, I hate vehicles that change their own oil onto the garage floor overnight
