Way back then.

...... when I was running a YZ250H on methanol in a sprint circuit kart, I had a bit of a problem when running part throttle during the rolling starts....after a couple of false starts, and two or three slow laps, the thing would not respond to the WOT quickly if fact it would take a second or two to clear it's throat before it would go....
The guys running petrol would get the jump and I would be behind 2 more people before the race had done 20 meters....
"Ribbing" the webs like that created turbulence to keep the mixture well atomised and starts were no problem at all.
So for that application it worked really well.
