gday jon, do you keep it out of the band at all or let it have a little of it?

I keep it slow n gentle to start with, but over time add revs. I think the OEM yamaha manual said 5000 revs for first few hundred miles and then add 500 or so until 600 miles and first service and then let rip... but i dont follow those rules religiously and just tend to not let it labour or over rev and just keep it spinning freely as possible. but seems people have their own views, worth asking on a bigger forum?

Very nice Ken.

Just as a matter of interest, how did you clean the engine before painting, and I am assuming you painted the engine rather than replacing the cases.

hi roady, all i did was blast the cases with glass bead but lowered the air pressure a bit, took a while ,protected all the mating surfaces etc, then used a gurney to clean inside, gave it a good wipe with meth and let it dry, heated the cases a bit with the hair dryer, not hot or anything then sprayed it with VHT engine enamel(satin ) and baked in the oven as par instructions. on a few occasions its come into contact with oil and grease and so far it just wipes of,no marks or anything, fingers crossed petrol wont worry it, it seems fairly tuff, its been bumped a lot with sockets etc, the more carefull i am the more i seem to bump it..

hi there, not a lot done that you can see but i still spend an hour or 2 on it 3 or 4 days a week and you couldnt tell the difference from the last lot of photos, anyway heres another pic,

Image

i can see an end to it, theres a fresh scratch on the tank about 4 or 5 inches down from the word yamaha on the tank, i polished most of it out and you can hardly see it but you can feel it, it nearly broke my heart, alas its not the end of the world, ken

carbies done,hopefully anyway
