Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
haha nice lozza
was going to say bits of steel curtain rod wacked in a jig and welded together to make it look like a bike..
gees i wonder if they even thought it needed a grade or was it " shee'lll be right they will look at the engine not the frame" type job

I always assumed it was some kind of special 'flexi-metal' from when I rode any of mine...

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
doc are you heat treating the frame as everything is all welded and you want to get rid of the risidual stress? or are you treating and then welding etc?
just wanting to know thats all
i was planning on tacking everythiing, preheating the whole frame and welding the lot and then post heating and allowing to cool etc, around that style anyways if i can be arsed lol

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Tomo, yes basically doing it this way just to be sure all the structure is "reset" and relieved. Some of the welding was already done before I got the frame and I wasnt exactly sure what method he followed and so i also didnt do anything when I made my additions as I thought I would just get it treated after it was all finished.
Lozza said this about what he does for welding;
"CrMo needs post weld heat treatment, mild steel you can get away with it, provided it was welded correctly to begin with. I have several flood lights I put on ANY frame before welding, that gets them hot enough, so you can get burnt if you touch it to long, then weld, then on with a old fire blanket and keep the lights on it for 4-5 hours after.
What Jeram said is correct the slower the heat up and cool down process the more ductile the weld(large crystals)"
Sounds pretty much like what youve got planned.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
For those (like me) who oggled the carbon parts above, I was Idly looking (dreaming) at the Tyga site I noticed they are doing free shipping on various bits of kit at the moment and it included the VJ22 carbon front and rear guards. Ok the postage is only their cheapo 3-4 week deal, but thats a saving of 37bucks ish US and buying the two parts together gets you a saving of around US$10 as well, so its 197bucks US shipped... wow, thats like 188 Au$... cheap enough for what you get i reckon, tis indeed lovely kit.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
Opps sorry m8.. I thought you got a smooth deal elsewhere... my apologies.
Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
No probs, I thought it wasnt too bad when I got it anyway (paid us $211 + shipping for the front n back n hangers), but theres always a cheaper price at some stage and sometimes you gotta just dive in and be happy with what you get when you get it.
All in all its pretty good stuff for the price, so im happy... but AUS$188 landed is bloody good.

Re: What performance from standard 350LC ?
yep agreed, tho i have to say I did admire those hangers as well... but I cant totally copy your look, especially as we are in the same city LOL!
To be honest, I still reckon us$211 (about 200Au these days) is more than fine really with the hangers as well, and as we know shipping is just shipping...
Must say that I do covet your shock tho, but I dont have a kidney I want to sell so I guess Im stuck with my hopefully good RD125LC shocker for the moment as im still building my bike and it needs a lot more parts still....
Anyway I digress, I cant wait to see your bike finished, its going to be amazing mate
