Jon
Your lc should be fine even with the big bire kit. Not all vintage bikes are completely original. The overall aspects of your bike qualifiez. you will not win any major prizes during co perition time that's all.

Did anyone follow up on a RZ tank to send to India ?
I have one that is reasonable to use as a template but would need a lot of work to get to a useable state.

I am expecting my 2nd TZR tank from India soon.
This should incorporate my suggested improvements to the first tank.
Note that the whole process takes a long time!
And if the first few tanks are not right then you just have to wear it.

Have you seen this fibreglass one, also out of India. Will be close to $500 once landed.

Hey that alloy tank on the LC with the polished engine looks great, is that something you can get or is it someone's one-off?

Anyone joined the RD Dreams forum? Ron Chinoy is a Yamaha twin enthisiast based in India (now runs a few race car teams) someone on that forum will know all about who is making these tanks and might beable to help

Yes but you need to be careful with Ethanol in the fuel here. There is a place in the USA that does GRP tanks and they recommend an epoxy liner installed at manufacture if used on the roads with crappy unleaded fuels

Tanks aaaaaaahhhhhhh

Took a closer look at my RZ tanks today. The 1984 tank has some holes but looks reasonably sound. The 1986 tank is, in a word ROOTED. Looked like Swiss cheese, basically the whole bottom is rotten. Only good for a decal pattern now.

So I have a spare RD LC tank that I'd be happy to swap with some one has a late model RZ tank (the one with the centre fuel cap) and needs a sound LC tank. If so PM me.

Gentlemen, I believe we may do well to keep JonW's tank plan in mind, we're all going to be stuck for a tank sooner or later. I need an early RZ tank too :-(
There's been so much talk of what modern fuels do to various lining materials that a clean steel (or alloy) tank would be a great relief.

What price would seem palatable for a new metal tank?
I mean really, "you can't weld rust"
This idea is gaining credence in my mind.

I know bugger all about stamping and welding metal, but in the end we need a reliable metal tank with the same external shape as the original and good fit. I couldn't give a toss what the detail underneath was or whether steel or alloy so long as it holds fuel safely and takes paint nicely. Just thinking aloud.
