I quite like the variety in Classic Bike, find it fascinating how the old bikes were put together and still a little incredulous that some mechanical arrangements actually worked, but I suspect the truth is they probably didn't, at least not well or reliably enough.
Read that other mag properly tonight, some good subjects but after so many errors about such a well known bike as the LC I couldn't trust the accuracy of the other articles

Trouble is, although we're happy to think our bikes are a good investment we lose sight that they're not an investment in a crucial sense, they're a passion and a hobby. "We" are pricing ourselves out of the market in a very important way by thinking of the bikes as some kind of capital investment so often.
When was the last time you walked into your garage, breathed in the aroma of WD40, oil and petrol, then ran a clean cloth over your share certificates before taking them for a blast through the hills?
Various magazines have a fair bit to answer for, but we're all guilty of it to an extent. Ebay has tapped into the worst instincts of the unwashed hordes, willing to bid mad money on sight unseen bikes hundreds of miles away.
Just my tuppence worth, and it isn't going to change the market.
Just thought I'd point out a rather large positive to the talk of our bikes being an investment.... not sure about anyone else, but I've taken great pains to drop hints to the wife that the bikes I own are only heading one way in terms of value, and even left a few of those magazines lying around opened at strategic places to back me up. I use the 'I' word whenever I'm seeking permission for another 'acquistion'!
That said, I think the wife has now cottoned on as she said the other day "how can they be an investment if you never intend to sell any of them"
Cheers, Richard.

Well I never mention the value of said acquisitions to my other half, cause when she finds out what you could get for them I reckon theyd be gone in a heart beat and the proceeds gone into the ether..... Better to let sleeping dogs lie and have those stinky old things in the shed where I can tinker away

Richie, your wife is far too smart, quick trade her in for a more recent model with a less sophisticated CDI.
