Im not sure there is much in it pricewise these days and I would say that its really better to have a single box if you can. Tho if you had a problem with the piggy you could remove it ad still ride home I guess, so maybe its a useful feature to have the old box still?

Possibly - it wasn't really a factor for me. The VCDI is just what you did with the LC at the time.
