dt175 wiring spark problems

G'day race fans. I was given a 1977 dt175 from a work mate. It wasn't running until i replaced the coil and the points. Since then i stripped the bike for a clean and paint. I removed all the lights and wiring from the bike. Now i only have the wiring harness from the magneto, i've connected the coil lead to the black wire in the harness as i believe this is the one connected to the condensor (pionts). I have no spark coming from spark plug. With a test light i have a pulse from the magneto to the coil. is there something missing because iv'e removed the rest of wiring harness, can anyone help in the trouble shooting here? I've made sure coil has good ground. i have new spark plug.
