I seem to remember that a while back the powers that be decided that braided brake lines would be fine if they werent bolted together and they had a tab saying they were to an ANSI/BSI or other standard, that meant we could source custom lines from overseas as the standards apply.

So, has fitted said lines and had an issue at blue/pink slippage time?

Hi Jon, I thought that change meant we couldn't source braided lines from overseas as they don't have those labels / tabs saying they were compliant? I know I didn't know this and brought a set for my RZ and installed them only to learn they weren't compliant. Luckily the RWC man I took the bike to didn't even bother checking anything before handing me the certificate.

I just had my '85 GSXR750 tested and one of the places I called mentioned the brake lines (also braided) must have the compliane tag on them.

Hel brake lines seem to be the best value here in Aus if that helps.

Interesting and of course this is state dependent im sure... but Im sure i read that we were now agreed that the standards were the same and that BSI labelled hoses were compliant, interesting a test center should mention it tho if thats not the case :/

I resto'ed a GTR1000 recently and went to have it rego'd. I was told "don't bring it down if it hasn't got OEM exhaust"!!!

I went to buy some braided lines from the UK to be told they would take longer so they would meet Oz requirements - be that standards or tags I don't know.

The guy I use looks for a Yamaha stamp on the pipes of a Yamaha for example then he is satisfied. If you have a set of nice chambers on your bike you will fail straight away and it doesn't seem to matter where you go.

I've never had an issue with chambers or braided lines.

Had the 85 gsxr blue slipped with a straight through Magnum end can at Motociclo 3 years ago and it wasn't an issue.

Lc was always pinked by Jay at SMW with Roberts chambers no probs.

I take the Gsxr to Jay for Pink slips, have done so since getting it blue slipped still with the Magnum end can and a set of Goodridge braided lines from the UK.

When you find the right guy this may take time just keep using him.

Or do a chamber swap and line swap prior to inspection no big deal.

prolly as they didnt have the ones with ADR tags on the shelf perhaps?

If that is the case I may as well give up now on my bikes, none has a standard pipe :/

Blimey. Hope SA isn't this complicated, will be replacing brake lines and was intending Venhill or similar, will look into this now.

I've found as long as the brake lines are one piece (don't bolt together), then they should be fine.

Pink slip is not a problem anyway as any tosser with a cert can do it. I have never had a problem with bolt together braided lines, got one blue slipped on Wednesday.

Cool, I need a good blue slipper local to me really, Ive a few bikes to do LOL
