Is this still an offence

In NSW is it still an offence to ride between cars that are stopped at the lights, not moving but stopped. I was just informed by a copper that its neg driving and 3 points and $405 fine. No prizes for guessing why he was telling me this information. And it is actually a lesser offence to ride between moving cars as this is only undertaking, go figure that out eh. Anyway I plan to write a letter because its been years since I got busted for anything.

Good luck - worth the letter. I recently goty fined for speeding but the cop had no evidence to show what speed I was doing. He said it was on the video but guess what - it wasn't. The media guys at work suggested the letter path but don't pretend to be a saint and it seems to have worked so far - I got a letter saying not to pay the fine until further notice.
BTW filtering is illegal, they'd rather you get rammed up the arse by some teenager checking her face book page then moving out of harms way.

I thought you could filter stationary traffic, but then maybe that was a trial and only in the CBD? hmm... I knew there was an offence for moving traffic, that one will never go away.

I'm had a feeling they recently changed it so that it's not an offence in NSW now.

I did a bit of research and it was only a trial but the results can't be found anywhere. However a mate of mine has a mate in the HP and he said they just had a meeting about this very thing and it is going to be made legal but the date is not yet set. Only for lines of cars that are stopped at lights etc and not moving. Anyway that doesn't help me right now but I am going to question a neg driving charge if it arrives as I think that is just him being a major tosser.

I agree Pat, but to be honest most traffic cops are like that ive found. I was seriously disappointed in the experience i had with them and lost a lot of respect for the cops that day.

It's hard to have respect for them when they are chasing good hard working people.

Every time you meet one you just know they have a job that suits them perfectly. Anyway I will see what the postman delivers.
I tried to explain to the guy that the R1-Z gets a bit hot when sitting in the traffic but he wasn't interested, must be a four stroke lover

The only thing I do get some amusement from with these guys is that they sit at the top of my driveway doing RBTs most weekend eves. Of course anyone who has met them will know they don't care enough to remember anyone. So they stop me, I pass the test, and instead of driving back into traffic I turn sharp left off down my driveway. I always have at least one of them freak out and run after me shouting 'no you idiot the road is this way...'...
Pat, my fingers are crossed for you mate. These guys dont like bikes full stop I reckon, but they dont like anything else much either...

I hope they include Break Down Lanes. Being able to use Break Down Lanes on expressways etc etc would be a major advantage and even safer than between cars at lights.
Go the letter Pat. Don't be Perry Mason - short, sharp and too the point. Emphasis good record, maturity and responsibility (self employed). Lie if you have to

. Don't dwell on the offense and your opinions of it, just say something like the cop didn't mention any danger caused.
Ciao.

Time for an update,
I got the fine in the post at the end of Jan and he booked me for overtaking on the left. I wrote the letter explaining my position and how no one knows what the law really is and what the result of the trial in the CBD was, my clean licence for over 10 years and the fact I drive trucks, cars and bike all the time without incident. Well today I got my reply and I got a caution with no points or fine applied so the letter worked. I am a happy camper now as a result and think common sense has prevailed. I was going to take this to court anyway if I was denied.
