R1-Z has just arrived....

Had this little beauty arrive this morning!
Photos make it looks better than it is, it's in good nick with everything there but by no means mint. Has chambers on it with carbon fibre mufflers- not sure what brand - and some nice rear sets which the pipes mount to so perhaps they came as a set? Also has a 3XV 4.5inch rear rim which just fits on.
Engine starts first kick and is so quiet and smooth compared to my RZ - perhaps just better developed and sweeter due to being smaller. The bike is also very compact - very slim, looks lovely I reckon - beautiful lines.
Given its not std and I love the trellis style frame I think this one will eventually get a non std paint scheme, I wonder what the frame would look like in red....
I'm blaming Pat for this unplanned acquisition... Just wait until my wife conducts her weekly motorcycle stocktake...

Nice, I was just dreaming about one of these the other day, wonder if an RD LC tank and duck tail would fit on there, or just the tail, perhaps with a Mars Bar paint Job and a set of gold rims, spoke wire wheels of course.
So jealous!

Richie keep plugging away, eventually they give up asking where did that come from. Your going to love the bike for sure. I fixed my clutch issue the other day, someone had put a foreign part in there but its all sweet now.
Watch for the coppers
You can stop dreaming Greasemeup I have one for sale and cheap too, PM if your interested. .

You guys are incorrigible

.
I would be leaving it pretty much 'as is'. Maybe tart it up to be pristine in 'close to OEM'.... but red frames, Mar Bars paint ???

(IMHO

)
I might remove/replace that decal on the fanny panel - looks cheap and tacky

to my taste.

I have a parts book if you need info Richie and check out this link it gives the cross reference between the R1-Z, TDR and TZR and all the specs for oils etc.

Thanks Pat, good to know and much appreciated.
What's with the weird hook type prong on the power valve coupling in the middle of the cylinders? Not sure what that's supposed to do or if it should be there....

Don't do that, my missus thinks I am mad, more than 3 bikes will end in divorce. Just out of curiosity though?
What's wrong with Mars colours?

That's a left over RZ500 part and that's to set the timing between the two banks of valves if I remember correctly

Another R1-Z. Great stuff. Nothing wrong with some tasteful modifications.

That is a gorgeous little bike, hard to see how it could be improved with older (larger) LC bodywork though. It'd be like shagging Miranda Kerr but wanting to bolt on Kim Kardashians arse. Hmmm, may have to rethink my metaphors.

You know, I keep thinking that they made so many really nice 250's in that period, if only they'd made similar 500 twins, imagine a scaled up R1-Z with a 500 twin motor.
